Kukoo Eggs

Think of Eggs as little add-ons to Kukoo, making it even easier for you to use Kukoo. They problably won't be the perfect solution for everyone - that's why they're not part of the core Kukoo application - but we'll launch a whole range of tiny Eggs to make sure there's a favorite for everyone.

Kukoo IM

Introducing our very first (and currently only) Kukoo Egg, but we're totally excited about it: use Kukoo in your favorite instant messaging client. Update one or more of your Kukoo accounts, check other people's statuses and create a quick Kukoo MiniMail.

Here's all you need to do: 1) make sure your Jabber account (see below) is a claimed Kukoo address and then 2) add kukoo@bot.im to your contact list. That's it!

We currently support these commands:

  • update (u): change the time you last read your email
Usage: 'update e@mail.com' or 'update all'
  • check (c): find out when someone will check their mail
    Usage: 'check e@mail.com'
  • email (e): send someone a quick email
Usage: 'email e@mail.com' (then enter your message)
  • help: in case you can't remember the above

Jabber?

Jabber (also referred to as XMPP) is an open instant messaging technology, similar to MSN, IRC, AOL Messenger and ICQ. There are tens of thousands of XMPP services deployed on the web. In addition to large, well-known services such as Google Talk (if you've got a Gmail/Google Apps email address, you've got a Talk account as well), Nimbuzz, and Ovi, there are also many smaller (self-hosted) services. A whole range of (free) Jabber clients is available for Windows, Mac and Linux. You're free to choose any service/client you like and use it with Kukoo.

Note that Kukoo IM is still under development and you might come accross some odd behavior every once in a while. Be sure to let us know when you do.
