Frequently asked questions

We're pretty sure we still left some questions unanswered. This FAQ section may offer a solution to some of them, but feel free to contact us in case you've got any additional questions. We'll be happy to help you out!

Usage

Do I need to install any special software?

You don't have to install anything at all. Kukoo allows you to continue using your existing mail address(es) and software.

Will I have to use a new email address?

No, you can continue to use your existing address. Just ask your contacts to add .kukoo.com to your address. If you're currently using mymail@gmail.com, that would become mymail@gmail.com.kukoo.com.

And what if I don't want to use a .kukoo.com address?

No problem either. Each Kukoo address comes with a public page, located at kukoo.com/your@email.com, allowing you to share your Kukoo schedule with anyone. Add your page to your email signature and you're all set.

What if I don't know whether the receiver is a Kukoo user?

You don't need to know whether you're mailing to someone using Kukoo or not. Feel free to add .kukoo.com to any outgoing email and we'll take care of the rest. If your addressee is not using Kukoo, we'll just forward your message without further ado.

Do you actually hold my messages until the next email moment?

No. We think you still need to have the chance to check your mail at any time. New messages will continue to fill your inbox, but as a Kukoo user you won't feel that pressure to reply as soon as an email arrives. We receive quite a few questions regarding this subject and we might at some point offer an option to actually hold your messages. For now, we're not doing so.

I've got multiple addresses?

Kukoo allows you to claim as much email addresses as you own. You'll be able to manage them from one single account though, so once they're set up you can set rules and view your stats in one place.

How many of these auto-reply messages will Kukoo send?

We'll send only one (1) auto-reply per receiver per day. If you want to check a status more often, add check@kukoo.com as a BCC to your message or email check@kukoo.com, adding the address whose status you'd like to check to the subjectline.

Can I automatically forward email to my Kukoo address?

Yes you can! If you don't want Kukoo to auto-reply to every one of those mails, you can switch notifications off under the Notifications tab in your account dashboard.

How does the last read feature work?

To let people know when you last checked your mail, add update@kukoo.com to the BCC field. This is an optional feature, ignore if you don't want people to know when you last checked your mail.

Security

Can I trust you?

We're not evil. We're email (and Kukoo) users just like you are. We know about your worries and we won't abuse any of the information you're sharing with Kukoo.

What information do you store?

For each message forwarded to an existing Kukoo user, we're saving both the date and email address of the sender. This allows us to draw graphs and statistics and gives you the opportunity to create automated filters, based on usage statistics (in the next version of Kukoo).

Do you store my email on your servers?

No, we don't. All email sent to .kukoo.com addresses is immediately forwarded. We're not storing any email messages or attachments.

Will I be able to delete my account?

Yes, you can. Click the Delete my account button on your account page, and we'll delete your user data from our service (permanently, so take care).

Well, I still don't trust you but I'd love to use Kukoo?

No problem. You don't have to use a Kukoo addresses, your public Kukoo page (e.g. kukoo.com/your@email.com) offers a good alternative. Do note however that your account statistics will be fairly limited in that situation.

Is this a free service?

Yes it is. No strings attached.

So how are you planning to make money then?

Kukoo 1.1 (the version you're currently using) is only the first part of a (much) bigger project we're building over the next few months. It'll feature advanced automation and integration with other services, in order to make you spend waste even less time emailing. While we're figuring out the best approach for email singletasking, we think it's a good idea to let you try it out as we progress (read: we want your feedback!).

Alright, so your planning to make this a paid service?

Absolutely! Don't worry though. Kukoo will be a freemium based service, the current Kukoo version (as well as all future 1.x updates) will remain free.

How do people know I'm using Kukoo?

Just tell them! Add a link to your Kukoo page in your signature and they'll quickly find out about it. We listed a number of signature suggestions to get you started.
